Bare plan

Two sites sit across the street from one another. All back of house areas are located on the side, sandwiched between other buildings, allowing for service paths in between. The main transformable area sits back from the street, to allow for one to build out onto an outdoor space as well if needed. The completely saturated super-pattern perimeter wall is encased in a layer of scaffolding. The entrances are types of professionals created with the same scaffolding language.

MARKET

Where scaffolding buildings out the stall and fills the entire volume

Fabric is draped over the stalls in a more loose, draped way, and over the pedestrian space in an alternating crisscross way

jUMMAH

Friday prayer: where the mihrab is built of scaffolding for the imam to lead prayer.

(20) In section, where the draping is above to show the direction of Mecca (as referenced by the roof mullions and the light angles that are constant to that angle throughout the day).

Cloth is draped to create a wall that separates the different gendered praying spaces.

wedding

Center piece being the height of an arch, where all other movable elements are organized around it.

Where the scaffolding creates a more monumental presence through the creating an arch along the oblique, upon which fabric is draped to create a short of shell.

Fabric here acts beyond its function as a backdrop and creates enclosure.

festival

Where scaffolding notches into the two exterior facades of the building and builds out a grand threshold, through which pedestrians are able to pass when the street is closed off a few weekends each year for street fairs.

The fabric is woven perpendicular to the arch, with the arch having an angled drape.

Arch presents itself to the community as echoes of its homeland are seen here.
